Edmonton Greyhounds

Well, after battling with mother nature for a nice day to have a March walk, I am sad to say she won.  Even April weekends were gross and still look dismal.  Since neither of those months worked out, lets hope May is better.  Cody and I are getting cabin fever and I am sure all of you are also.  Having said that I am happy to announce the first spring walk on Sunday May 5.  It will take place at Rundle Park.  We will meet at Rundle Trail House at 1pm.  See you all there.

Well, it doesn’t look like Mother Nature wants us to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  Despite the temperatures co-operating, somewhat, the snow is not.  With the amount that has fallen over the last 12 hours along with the snow from last weekends storm, the paths at Rundle park have most likely not been cleared.   It has been decided to cancel this months walk.  Please stay tuned for April’s walk announcement.

Burrr!  March may have come in like a lamb, but it’s showing its lion right now.  The forecast for Sunday is looking cool, with a high of -11, which isn’t to bad, but if there is a wind chill we could be looking at -20 or colder.  Plus with all this lovely snow, the paths may not be cleared.  Due to this cold and snowy forecast, it has been decided that we will just have to be Irish another day, like Saturday March 23.  The time and place remain the same.  Hope to see you all there…in green.

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!  St Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and what better way to spend it than with some “Irish for a day” friend’s. Please join us for our St. Patties Day stroll on Sunday March 17th at 1 P.M. in Rundle Park.  While there we can look for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; our hounds should be able to spot that pot a mile away.  We will meet at the Rundle Trail House.  Don’t forget to show your Irish side by wearing some green…hounds too!

Will you be my valentine?  We all love this time of year.  Candy, chocolates and flowers, but the best part about it is spending a beautiful afternoon with loved ones.  Bring your sweethearts, hounds and humans, out on Saturday Feb 16 at 1Pm for our Sweetheart Walk.   We will meet in the Edmonton Motors service parking lot on 116 St between Jasper Ave and 100 Ave.  The walk will take place along the river valley on a fully paved sidewalk just off 100 Ave.   See you all there!

Well folks, despite the warm weather we have been having this week, the weekend is looking a little chilly.  According to the Forecast we are looking at about -15 with a -20 to -30 windchill.  Due to this unforeseen cold weather it has been decided to postpone the walk until Sunday Jan 27.  The time and location remain the same.  I don’t know about all of you, but I know Cody and I don’t want to be out walking on such a bone chilling day. Keep warm this weekend and see you all on the 27th.

Happy New Year!  Hope everyone had a greyt holiday with friends and family.  Now that all the very yummy food is eaten and clothes feel a little snug, I know mine do, it’s time to get back at ‘er.   I am happy to announce the kick off to 2013 with a walk on Sunday Jan 20th at 2 PM.  The walk will be along cleared paved paths through Rundle Park.   We will meet up at the Rundle Trail House.  I am hoping the weather will co-operate with us as indicated in the 14 day weather trend.  Hope to see you there!

Once again this year , our greyhounds will be leading Santa through the parade route in the 25th annual Jingle on Indoor Santa Clause Parade on Dec 2nd.

We are looking for 20 greyhounds and their people to join us as we make our way through the pedways in downtown Edmonton.

• Costumes for the greyhounds are supplied.
• Walkers are asked to wear a white shirt and jeans or dark pants.
• The parade runs from 10 am – 12 noon through the indoor pedways in downtown Edmonton.
• We start at Commerce Place where there is plenty of parking available.

Wow I can’t believe it’s October already.  The leaves are changing, there is a chill in the air and Halloween is right around the corner.  Time to start thinking of a costume for your Grey for this years Hall-a-roo walk on Sunday October 28th at 1 pm.  We will meet in the Edmonton Motors service parking lot on 116 St between Jasper Ave and 100 Ave.  The walk will take place along the river valley on a fully paved sidewalk just off 100 Ave.  I am looking forward to seeing those happy hounds in their beast costumes.  See you all there!

It’s fall! Time to break out the flannel!

After a short hiatus it’s time to get back at ‘er.  It’s September, fall is here and it is beautiful outside; we should enjoy it while it lasts.  Our next walk will be Sunday Sept 23 at 1 PM.  We will meet at the Kinsman Field House.   I am hoping for a lovely day but please dress accordingly.
